About the Author
Henry Garfield started singing in the DC punk band State of Alert before changing his name and becoming a legendary punk figure as frontman for Black Flag and his own Rollins Band. He started acting after doing several ads and MTV appearances, and his tattooed, musclebound body and gravel voice was a natural for tough guy roles in Hollywood features. Henry Rollins is the author of several books, and is also a renowned spoken word performer, making countless appearances at theatres and colleges worldwide.

Saw his spoken word show ten years ago and loved it. Fully expected to love this book, but I was wrong. I'd go into more detail, but my last review didn't make it through the censors, so I'll stop here.

Excellent interview in pocket book format

A pocket book that's essentially a 2.5 hour phone conversation from 2011 between V.Vale and Henry Rollins. This is got a lot of good stuff in a nice small volume, mostly catching up with Rollins on his travels and latest projects. He discusses archiving old punk records, visiting places like Uganda and North Korea, music fandom, e-publishing, wikileaks, and gear to pack for travel. This is a great little read, and I love small books like this, the perfect size to shove in a pocket and look at on the go. I hope Re/Search does more of these with other interesting people, because if they did this as a regular series, I'd love to buy a subscription or just snap up every one that came out.
